Methods of Kinesiotaping

Physiological effects are a prominent aspect of Kinesiotaping. Systems that are affected by this treatment are:

  • Joints
  • Neurological system
  • Muscular system
  • Fascial systems
  • Circulatory and lymphatic systems

It is currently being used by many therapists and chiropractors to:

  • Promote lymphatic fluid drainage
  • Change muscle tone
  • Improve posture
  • Correct movement patterns

It is a very easy procedure to learn and apply. Over time, Kinesiotaping will reduce your pain, improve your range of motion, and help your body function more smoothly.

How Does Kinesiotaping Work?

There are many theories on how to properly use the Kinesiotaping method. Kinesio Tape can be used on the skin to create more space between the dermis and the muscle by pulling on the upper layers of the skin. The space between the dermis and muscle is believed to decrease pressure on the lymph channels and all other areas within the muscle and dermis. This allows for more space to be created.

Many nerve receptors are housed in this space that forwards information to the brain. Nerve receptors are compressed during an injury, which can lead to fraudulent signals being sent to the brain. Kinesiotaping is also believed to affect deeper tissues within the body. Kinesiotaping treatment can reduce muscle fatigue and improve the quality of your muscle contraction.

Who Benefits from Kinesiotaping?

Both children and adults benefit from Kinesiotaping since it is a natural and non-invasive treatment modality. The tape is created from latex-free elastic fibers that are derived from cotton. It will be in your best interest to have a well-qualified and trained therapist or chiropractor apply the tape for you. Having it completed by a trained therapist ensures you are receiving the appropriate amount of tension or stability depending on your injury.
